A RESOLUTION HONORING LORETTA HOLLOWAY, AN ANDERSON COUNTY TREASURE, WHO CONTINUES TO REPRESENT HER HOMETOWN OF BELTON, ANDERSON COUNTY AND THE STATE OF
SOUTH CAROLINA THROUGH HER MELODIOUS AND POWERFUL VOICE, AND TO APPLAUD MS. HOLLOWAY FOR HER SERVICE WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY, AND ALL MATTERS RELATED THERETO:
Whereas, Loretta Holloway is a native of Belton, South Carolina and attended Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Ms. Holloway's studied to become an
English teach and worked as a jazz singer while in college.
Whereas, Loretta Holloway found that she had a natural gift and moved to Chicago to pursue a career in music. Ms. Holloway has performed in concerts all over the Untied
States and abroad and her voice has afforded her the opportunity to record theme songs, perform in Off-Broadway productions, and act in cameo roles in severial films, i.e. Blackjack, Pure Country with George Strait,
and Elvis and Me. She has also performed as the opening act for comdeians: Bill Cosby, Jay Leno, Whoopi Goldberg, Gary Shandling, and Don Rickles. Ms Holloway was presented to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in a
Royal Command Performance in Brisbsane, Australia.
Whereas, Loretta Holloway has been honored as "South Carolina's First Lady of Song" as well as one of South Carolina's Women of Substance where she lends her talents to
various charity orgnizations, including the Belton Interfaith Ministries Association (BIMA), Hospice of the Upstate, AFAN (AIDS awareness programs in Las Vegas), and the Golden Rainbow, and,
Now, Therefore, it is hereby proclaimed by the Anderson County Council:
Anderson County Council applauds Loretta Holloway for her selfess work with charities and extends its best wishes for continued success in her career as she mesmerizes her audiences with her smooth and powerful
voice that affects positve change in the lives of many and makes Belton, Anderson County and the State of South Carolina proud to be her home.
This resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon enactment.
RESLOLVED in meeting duly assembled this 20th day of December 2011.
